Elite 2 mod chip guide

Xbox Elite 2 Mod Chip Installation Guide

Important: This guide is for experienced installers only. Soldering and controller disassembly can cause damage if done incorrectly.

Important Notes

  • Trigger Signal (SG): The trigger signal is marked as SG on the mod chip.
  • No Chip Name: If the mod chip does not have a name printed on it, this is fine. Continue with the installation instructions and images provided.
  • Menu: Ignore any wiring or connections related to “Menu”. These are not required.
  • Guide: Ignore any wiring or connections related to “Guide”. These are not required.
  • Charge LED: Ignore this feature. It is not required for the mod chip to function correctly.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Disassemble the Xbox Elite Controller

  1. Power off the controller and remove any batteries.
  2. Unscrew the back of the controller using the correct screwdriver.
  3. Carefully separate the two halves of the controller shell.
  4. Use a plastic prying tool where possible to avoid damage.

For a detailed teardown reference, you can search for the Xbox One Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 Disassembly Guide.

2. Identify the Mod Chip and Signal Points

Locate the mod chip and identify the connection points. Look for the SG signal on the chip, then match it to the correct point on the controller motherboard.

3. Solder the Mod Chip

Solder the required wires from the mod chip to the correct pads or points on the motherboard, using the images supplied with the chip as a reference.

Make sure every connection is clean, secure, and not bridged to nearby components.

4. Test the Mod Chip Before Reassembly

Before putting the controller back together, connect it briefly to an Xbox or PC and test the chip.

  • Check trigger response.
  • Check button mappings.
  • Check LED behaviour, if applicable.
  • Confirm the controller powers on correctly.

5. Reassemble the Controller

  1. Carefully align the front and back halves of the controller shell.
  2. Press the shell together gently.
  3. Replace and tighten the screws.

6. Final Testing

Fully test the controller after reassembly to confirm everything works as expected.

Troubleshooting Tips

Wires Not Connected Properly

Double-check that the blue wire is securely attached to the correct point on the motherboard. This is important for the chip to work correctly.

Controller Not Powering On

Check all power and ground connections. Inspect solder joints carefully and make sure there are no short circuits.

Mod Features Not Responding

Recheck all solder joints and confirm every wire is connected to the correct point.
